This past month, Corbett Drummey,  LTX Studio's VP of Brand Collaboration, led a webinar showcasing two brand new features: the Composition Tool and the Auto SFX feature, tools that will further streamline your creative workflow.

Designed with marketers, filmmakers, and ad agencies in mind, these intuitive updates bring efficiency and precision to your projects. Whether you're refining your storyboard or want to enhance your project’s auditory journey, using these tools means eliminating production costs while elevating your content quality and simplifying the process.

The following guide breaks down what these tools can do and how you can integrate them into your next project.

Auto SFX

What is Auto SFX?

Auto SFX is an intelligent tool designed to generate movie sound effects based on specific scene analysis. Auto SFX interprets the visuals in your scene and pairs them with context-appropriate sounds, even matching the sound effect to the scene's duration. By handling the time-consuming work for you, the new Auto SFX tool allows you to focus on refining your creative vision.

Key Features of Auto SFX

  • Automatic Sound Matching: LTX Studio automatically syncs sound effects to your visual content and clip duration. For instance, if your scene pictures a massive lightning storm, Auto SFX can seamlessly add thunder sound effects or wind sound effects, enhancing the drama of your story while saving you time and manual effort.
  • Scene-Based Sound Generation: Auto SFX even has the ability to automatically identify movement in your scenes, combining motion with the appropriate sound effect. If you’ve used LTX’s Motion Editor to capture the movement of a truck slamming on its brakes, Auto SFX will detect this deceleration and add the right sound effect to match this scene. Imagine a car chase where skidding tires and revving engines are added with the click of a button!
  • Simplified Workflow: Auto SFX integrates seamlessly with your workflow, while still giving you the choice to manually add sound using the LTX Studio SFX Library instead. If you need more ideas for implementing the right sound effects to your scene, you can always search for free SFX (simply search for "freesfx" in your preferred search engine) to come up with new ideas. Or, if you need a basic rundown of how to add sound effects to your project, you can dive deeper in LTX Studio’s how-to guide!

How to Add Auto Sound Effects

  1. Activate Auto SFX: Using Auto SFX is truly as easy as it sounds: toggle on the “Auto SFX” button for your chosen scene and you're good to go! The toggle automatically analyzes your visuals for that particular scene, applying the relevant sound effects.
  1. Review and Refine: Preview the applied sound effects. If they aren't quite right, you can always adjust them by manually sifting through alternatives in the LTX Studio SFX Library.

Auto SFX allows you to create professional sound with an increased ease-of-use. This new tool is an essential ally for developing creative work that is instantly more built-out, specific, and tied to your creative vision.

Composition Tool in Video

What is the Composition Tool?

The Composition Tool is a powerful new feature to the LTX Studio line up, bringing the nuance of storyboarding and editing directly to your fingertips. The Composition Tool gives you two ways-in to reach your desired end result:

  1. Scribble + Text Prompt: The Scribble tool allows you to draw directly in the Composition window's blank frame. Then, the platform combines your drawing as a visual reference with your text prompt to generate image results.
  2. Image + Text Prompt:  If you decide you'd prefer to upload a reference image rather than draw your own, you unlock several additional features in LTX Studio's Composition window.

To dive deeper into the options that come with Composition, let's explore some of the key features related to dropping in a reference image.

Key Features of the Composition Tool

When you select the Image option, you gain access to additional features that enhance creative control:

  • Drop-In Reference Image: After you drop in a reference image, you can specify which area you’d like to focus on in image analysis:
    • Depth focuses on the perspective and layered elements in the reference image.
    • Lines uses the structure and outlines of the reference image as the primary guide.
    • Pose concentrates on a character’s physical positioning and pose.
    • Colors hones in on an image's shapes and color scheme.
  • Create Masks: The "Mask" tool allows you to draw directly on your reference image, giving you greater precision over what you'd like included and excluded from your final result. When combined with the image analysis drop-down (depth, lines, pose, and colors) and the "Image Strength" slider, you have an extraordinary level of control over the final outcome.
  • Adjust Strength and Mask: The Image Strength slider controls how strongly the adjustments (whether from prompts or drawn masks) affect the final image.

Now that you're familiar with the key features of LTX Studio's Composition Tool, let's walk through how to use them to achieve your desired video composition results.

How to Use the New Composition Tool

  1. Start with a Scribble or an Image: Drop in your reference image or start fresh by drawing directly on the blank frame. Make sure to include your text prompt!
    1. When you use the Scribble Tool, you can also Erase or Select specific areas of your drawing that need fine-tuning.
  2. Resize and Adjust: Modify the frame size and placement in your reference image, or isolate specific parts of your drawing if you opted for the Scribble tool.
  3. Use the Image Strength Slider: Decide how prominently AI-generated changes should appear in your final image. For a subtle touch, keep the slider closer to the left hand side. For a stronger influence over the content, slide the bar closer to the right.
  4. Mask Specific Areas: Masking refers to selecting or isolating areas of an image to either protect or alter them, allowing for precise style transfer within the composition. As explained in Episode 5 of LTX Studio's Tips & Tricks series: "The more you mask, the looser AI sticks to the reference image."
  5. Restore with Precision: Made a mistake? Simply use the Restore tool to bring back the original while retaining adjustments more to your liking.

Why Does the Composition Tool Matter?

By using the Composition Tool in tandem with other LTX Studio tools, like Face Expression and the Motion Editor, you gain unparalleled creative control. LTX Studio’s new Composition Tool allows you to create cohesive character journeys, ensuring consistency across your story while executing highly detailed edits without compromising quality. When you combine this with precise motion adjustments, these tools give you the capacity to be more granular with your ideas.
